Before, during, and after the birth of your child, the specialists at the Southeastern Med Childbirth Center (CBC) are here to ensure that you and your baby receive the personalized care, comfort, security, and guidance you deserve.
We strongly believe in family-centered or “couplet care.” This approach gives parents more flexibility in how they wish to welcome their newborn, and promotes parent-infant bonding through early skin-to-skin contact (“Kangaroo Care”), rooming-in services, and breastfeeding education.
Our Childbirth Center is located on the first floor of the hospital and is comprised of two areas: the Labor & Delivery unit and the Mother-Baby unit. Here, our team of friendly, highly skilled nurses work alongside two experienced OB/GYNs, Dr. Paul Wright and Dr. Joseph Binkiewicz, to provide round-the-clock care backed by state-of-the-art equipment.
As a Level 1 Perinatal Center, we also provide referrals and transports for women with high-risk pregnancies and/or babies born with serious conditions who might require a higher level of care. The Ohio State University Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Riverside Methodist Hospital are among our partners, as well as tertiary centers located in the Akron/Canton area.
