If you’re living with heart or lung disease, the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Specialists at Southeastern Med can develop a customized plan to help you manage your condition and improve your daily life. Our team of highly trained medical professionals includes Registered Nurses, Exercise Physiologists, Respiratory Therapists, and Rehabilitation Technicians, and our program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Classes for both cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients are currently held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the west side of the hospital. They each last approximately one hour, and include sessions for physical exercise as well as education on anatomy, signs and symptoms of disease, nutrition guidelines, energy conservation, and medications. Important: Most Cardiac / Pulmonary Rehab programs are covered by Medicare and Medicaid with proper diagnoses. Our staff can help you determine your coverage.
Cardiac Rehab at Southeastern Med
The goal of any cardiac rehab plan is to improve your daily life and reduce the existing risk factors to your health. To achieve this, we’ll start by talking to you about your physical, emotional, social, and nutritional status. Based on this analysis and your specific condition, our specialists will then create a program which can include everything from new exercise and dietary goals to environmental changes and support group assistance.
You could be eligible for Cardiac Rehab Services if you’ve had:
- Bypass Surgery
- Chronic Heart Failure
- Heart Attack within the past year
- Heart or Lung Transplant
- Heart Valve Repair or Replacement
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) or Stents
- Stable Chest Pain
Pulmonary Rehab at Southeastern Med
Our pulmonary rehabilitation team is focused on helping you minimize the symptoms of respiratory and lung issues so you can lead a fuller, more comfortable and productive life. An individual’s program often includes customized aerobic exercise along with vital group support and encouragement.
You could be eligible for Pulmonary Rehab Services if you have or have had:
- Asthma
- Bronchiectasis
- Chronic Bronchitis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Emphysema
- Interstitial Lung Disease
- Lung Cancer
- Pulmonary Fibrosis
- Various Lung Surgeries
